N.S. Memorial College of Nursing envisioned in 2012 to mould a new generation with the knowledge, skill and attitude to provide nursing care to the sick and disabled and to bring about new innovations in the field of Nursing education.

The N.S.Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences is located near N.H bypass road, palathara, Kollam, Kerala. It was founded in the year 2006 in memory of late N.Sreedharan, a renowned humanitarian and politician. The first Cooperative Multi Super specialty hospital in south Kerala, N.S.Memorial institute aims at providing the best of medical facilities and services at affordable cost. The hospital which started as small venture has undergone remarkable growth in infrastructure facilities and general amenities over the years. In this 250 bedded multi specialty hospital, more than 300 highly trained, skilled and motivated medical and paramedical staff utilizes their expertise to the best interests of the patients. The N.S. Memorial College of Nursing is located in the same campus of the N.S.Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences.

ADMISSION

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR B.Sc (N)  The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

  • Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together are eligible.
  • Candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from outside Kerala, should produce recognition certificate and equivalency of qualifying examination from the Kerala University of health Sciences.
  • It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the qualifying examination he / she have passed is recognized by the Kerala University of Health Sciences as eligible qualification for admission to the B Sc Nursing Course.
  • The Candidate should produce migration certificate if required
  • Candidate shall be medically fit.

ALLOCATION OF SEATS

The N S Memorial College of nursing has an annual intake of 30 seats for the BSc (N) course. The details about the seats are given below:

  • General Merit-50%
  • Management Quota-50%
  • GNM

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Should be a resident of any state of India
  • Should have passed +2/VHSE/HSE with minimum 40% mark.
  • Age: between 17-35years
  • In case of SC/ST candidates only a pass in the +2 examination is required.
  • Selection will be made based on the marks obtained in the Qualifying examination and final interview.

The N S Memorial nursing school has an annual intake of 20 seats for the GNM course.

FACILITIES

College building is located adjacent to the N.S.Hospital. Other than spacious and well equipped class rooms, the following facilities are available in the College.

Laboratories:

We have Pre-Clinical Laboratory, Community Health Nursing Lab, Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing Lab, Nutrition Lab, Audio-Visual Lab,and Computer Lab.

All laboratories are equipped with modern and sophisticated equipments for imparting practical training to the students.

Computer lab and Electronic library:

The college has a full pledged computer lab which offers access to databases across the world, through the internet.

Library:

The College library is housed to study and conduct research. It is well stocked with more than 1500 books, latest edition of books for reference, a number of periodicals and journals and news papers to satisfy academic needs of the students.

Transportation:

College bus is provided for the conveyance of students from the hostels to the college and back and for educational visits conducted by the institution as part of the curriculum.

Hostel:

The college provides hostel facilities for students, on actual cost sharing basis. Each hosteller is provided with a coat a table, a chair and a wardrobe. Facilities for indoor games and recreation are available at the hostel.

Canteen:

To meet the need of students a canteen has been established within the college campus. sumptuous vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are available at affordable rates.

 PROGRAMMES

Students Empowerment Programmes

College of nursing is conducting many students’ empowerment programs. These programs will help to empower the skills and abilities of each student. By understanding the capabilities of each student we are making special empowerment programs for them. This will include personality development, general knowledge, social awareness, nature classes, sports and games etc…

These programs will help to build a healthy generation with knowledge and abilities. We are making them to be prepared for any life situations and circumstances. We are proud to offer a bright future for our students as a good human being and professional who walk on the way which we provided to them

Sports And Games:

Sound health and physical fitness are two important ingredients of any educational system. Sports and games play a vital role in the health of individuals. Keeping this in view, adequate sports and games facilities are provided to the students

Faculty Improvement Programmes:

There are many faculty improvement programs has been conducting in the college. These programs help the faculties to know more about the nature of our college and our teaching standards. We are conducting regular faculty meetings, seminars and technical classes by the experts and professional guest lecturers for the faculties. These programs help them to reach their excellence easily and effectively. Our college of nursing also has the plans to conduct the psychological classes and awareness programs to make our faculties to be eligible to meet all situations which will happen in a college campus. Here they will get enough courage and knowledge to deal with a student psychologically and they can easily read the mind of each student in a classroom.

These special programs will improve the teachers-students relations and the quality of education we delivers.

 PTA

We believe that a good PTA can make a lot in the construction of a healthy education environment. So that we have a strong PTA and its regular follow up programs. We follow the transparent PTA administration and selection processes.

We concern all our PTA members as a part of our college management and we always get their valuable suggestions before making any major decisions in the college related to the education system. A perfect PTA is the primary step to build a good education system. The college is responsible to render a good PTA for a great and healthy college atmosphere.
